A picnic in our new home!

We took a picnic on the land and staked off the driveway so that it could be put down on Thursday.

In order to place a manufactured home, you need a driveway… duh. Apparently, you also need a permit to attach to County roads. Of course, another permit. This one comes from the public works dept of Contra Costa County. You can find the encroachment permit here. However, this one went quickly and simply. Just pay $135 (that is expensive paper) and in a couple days you have a permit. No fuss!

I wish all permitting processes were this simple. Oh the simpler more dangerous days….

My Contractor at All American Modular said that he was going to need me to stake the 4 corners of the home, and where the driveway begins at the road. Since it’s Christmas break, I thought my family could help. We took a picnic out there. I knew about where the house would be, so what better place to lay a blanket for a picnic than the place where we will one day lay our heads 😊

Here is a of us all “working” staking the driveway at the road and the 4 corners of the home in the distance.

Don’t mind the 16 month old in the road. This road is hardly traveled especially on a holiday Saturday. 🙂

Also, if you look closely you’ll see I learned the value of being a “supervisor” instead of doing all the work myself 🙂

If you stake out the area of your home’s ground floor, it looks a lot smaller. It was great to be out there though. It was peaceful. I can’t say exactly what made it more peaceful, but it was.

I’m excited to one day call that dirt plot home!
