Quick updates on last week’s posts
Installing Vinyl Gutters
Last night I finished the gutters with the help of a friend. We were installing them past 10 o’clock. But it is done! Regrettably I don’t have a picture (because it was dark out). But here are some from earlier in the week
I attempted to do things cheaper and quicker, but it didn’t work out. If you want to install vinyl gutters from a big box store… I would recommend following this video as much as possible
Dog Surgery
Marshall went to a vet. We went with Central Boulevard vet. If we hadn’t, he’d be dead by now 😊.
The toy had punctured his small intestines in two places and that part needed to be removed as well as the other small intestines that came to help seal up any leakage. Internal organs are so smart without brains.
It wasn’t cheap, but we’ve reached out to Waggle, and Pet Assistance. Hopefully we’ll be able to get some aid from them.
Currently, he looks like the inverse of a poodle. 😊 but he is feeling much more like his old self.
All the kids in the house now are really enjoying the dog. Nothing like a near death experience for the family to really appreciate him.
Amerigas install
Amerigas was out and hooked up the gas to both the furnace and stove. I had already paid an HVAC guy and an appliance guy to switch the orifices in both of those utilities.
Septic inspection weed-barrier
I was ready to pass my septic inspection on Thursday. I had my electrician wire the panel so that the wiring and floats could be tested.
I paid someone to install the septic system. In anticipation of this inspection we sent this picture to the inspector. It showed that there was weed barrier over the entire leech field.
Still the inspector requested I dig him a couple holes in the field to show it. I thought it a bit ridiculous but I was willing to humor him.
While he was there I furiously dug 2 holes in 90 degree weather. I asked “anything else” He said “yes…. One more hole over there” and pointed further away. I’m not sure what one more hole would do for his ego, or why they were really necessary. I wanted to throw him the shovel and tell him to dig it! But I didn’t, And I dug yet another hole while sweating bullets. I realized it must be nice to be an inspector. You tell people what to do and they must do it. Like a dictator.
Septic Inspection Monitoring Well failure
After he saw the holes he then told me he’d have to fail my anyway… 🙁
On the plans, it clearly lays out that a monitoring well needs a foot of cement at the top
I believe my installer mentioned this to me… But I’ve been so busy, I haven’t done it.
Also, the reason I paid someone to do the septic was so I wouldn’t have to worry as much.
Anyway, I failed because the monitoring wells did not have the required 12” of cement at the top. So yesterday Darrell, Thea and I were out there digging it down, and putting a split piece of 8” pvc around it as a form to save some concrete.
They had fun which masked my unhappiness of needing to do it 😊. Darrell told me that when he was a kid he used to “make cereal” by making a puddle and then putting dirt in it. I do not believe he ate that cereal, but it was fun to hear one of his childhood memories. I also worked on finishing the gutters while the concrete set.
Ready for a final inspection
For real this time…
Gutters are done! Septic is Done! All utilities are attached to the house! All that is left are all the final inspections this week. Here’s hoping they all pass with flying colors and we can move in this week. If not well… our current landlord expects us out by the 15th so…. It’ll be interesting. Maybe we’ll be camping
